Aslaug by TazioBettin Aslaug by TazioBettin
New Burning Wheel campaign coming up means new character. And finally yesterday we started playing!
Last time we took inspiration from Steve Jackson's "Sorcery!" gamebook adventures' setting, this time it's going to be Warhammer Fantasy.
And here's an updated character sheet (because I lost the old one that I did before starting play, damn me).

(yes of course, I changed her name and named her after Vikings' Aslaug... because the name rocks, but Vikings' Aslaug is still one helluva annoying character that only keeps whining and shitting children).

In case you're a Burning Wheel player, her paths are:
Village Born, Village Peddler, Criminal, Gravedigger

And most important, her Beliefs:
People should be manipulated for one's profit.
I won't leave empty-handed.
I'll take care of Bertolt.

and Instincts:
Always assume logical explanations for strange occurrences while in graveyards or catacombs.
Whenever someone asks me about my past, use Falsehoods.
When I'm working, I'm always hooded.

Cool design. That double-pupil eye is an impressively freaky idea!

I tried to read burning wheel once. It looks really hard to run but if you can I bet it's super fun to play.

It's actually much easier than any other game I've ever played. As a GM, you don't have to keep track of any experience points for the PCs because the system takes care of character advancement automatically. NPCs are also much easier to burn and move than PCs. It is true that in the previous edition looked kinda daunting, also because it was separated in so many manuals, but the Gold Edition reorganizes things quite well and is easier to read. The Adventure Burner is still a very valuable sourcebook, I think.
My only qualm with the whole system is the intrinsic racism, typically tolkienian. Having all dwarves greedy and all orcs hateful is something I strongly object to. But if one tweaks that bit, it plays gorgeously.
