It was an ancient species, or so they believed of themselves. Their civilization had degenerated long time ago, yet the spoken lore of the tribal Elder still held memories of a glorious past, when the badlands were fertile and their culture rich and refined. Their very religion was based upon the worship of Ancestors whose memory had faded into myth. Hunting for prey, fighting for survival in a world that no longer saw them as the sages and philosophers of the Old Age, the scattered tribes of the elves struggled with the other inhabitants of the wasted world for the simplest need of all: the need to survive.
Yes, you see: there are only two settings I liked -actually I LOVED- in the AD&D of the old age. That's Planescape and Dark Sun. Especially the latter reshaped races and classes stereotypes so it was something really new and fresh. And I love when someone has the guts to break stereotypes, especially in fantasy, which is overloaded with stereotypes, isn't it.
Usually I'm not very fond of muscled ladies, but this time I'll do an esception... Beautiful, strong and primitive; a sensual body but shaped by struggle to survive in the badlands. Love the skin color you choosed.
Thank you, although this is a very old piece. You might like to see some more recent artwork on a similar subject, like [link] perhaps? I love primal ladies. I know not everyone like muscles in a woman, but I just love how the light can play over those muscles. And you have no excuse with female muscle: if you don't have a solid grip on anatomy there's no hiding it. Which means more challenge for me.
My pleasure. I've taken a tour through your galleries, but this is the one I've choosed to . This doesn't mean the rest of your work is fabulous, of course!
Thanks. It's very interesting for me so I hope you don't mind me asking what is it exactly that strikes you in ways that my other art doesn't? It might be important that I understand that so that I may further improve my style.
Mmm... Let's see. Mainly is just personal preference, but, the subject/ theme is quite original; body position is dinamic and she seems not to be posing, what adds naturalness. I like specially her tattoos, hairdress and jewelery; I think they fit perfectly with the theme and add some cultural reference. All together tells a little story (I think every good image has to tell one), but open enought for the viewer to fill the gaps: To let the viewer/reader use his imagination is a good way to hook him/her. Hope it'll be useful.
