war... war never changes by TazioBettin war... war never changes by TazioBettin
:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz:

Trying to push my limits, get out of my comfort zone by working on compositions, poses and backgrounds more than I usually do.

This time I avoided my habit of trying to finish a picture in one evening, and painstakingly worked on details, as much as I could, in order to be 100% satisfied with the result. Oh and yeah, the sniper rifle comes from here:

Hope you like it. Critique is welcome, of course.

EDIT: some changes to make the pic more realistic, mainly the character's face and some details of buildings and lighting.

some critique: the fading of the buildings in the background is lacking which makes the picture a bit flat, also the shadows are not right considering the recent lighting.
what I like: the textures and the character, she looks pretty cartoony but still good

I agree that her backside needs to be a bit larger (there's barely enough room there for a pair of hips!), but the image itself is fantastic. Nice emotional affect. The quote comes from the end of Fallout: New Vegas, but I don't get a Fallout feel for this image. Excellent work!!

Not from New Vegas, but from just any Fallout game, as Ron Pearlman's quote is the series' leitmotiv. But I find it pertaining anyways :)
Heh, the anatomy is kinda messed up, but I've been working on it more in subsequent artwork :)
This one falls under the "rather old" cathegory, one of my first attempts at putting a meaningful background :)
And thanks!

I've been watching you on deviant for a few years and I love what you've done with this image if I were to suggest one thing though it would be maybe a dusty overlay or something so that the foreground seems more connected to the wastelands background.

This is a serious improvement in your background integration. Well done :)

The *only* thing I might nit pick is her left foot; it still has a bit of a floating feel to it. The shadow directly under the ball of her foot should be a little deeper with the light level you've got, with maybe some darkness right around the edges of it.

oh thanks, that's helpful!
But honestly, it's a rather old pic, I pride myself on having further improved since then. But you guys are the ultimate judges of that ;)

As a decidedly NON artistic person in most respects, I will give you my opinion as an oberver rather than a critique.
I like the clear cut lines of the main character, her weapon, and her immediate environment. As well as the less defined detail of the distance objects. The perspective is effective for bringing my attention to the subject while giving me a good idea of the total environment. The wrecked buildings, the smokey haze, but also the promise of the sun coming out of the murk to the left. This also follows good sniper protocol of having a good field of view while obscuring your own silouette and profile.
This pic has now joined my Win7 slideshow background file. lol

Ciao!

Cool Stuff!!! I specially like the way it was put together, background and subject :D
It looks like u only have one color over the skin, (instead of having different colors/hues with similar values/shades) did u intend for that look? or were u trying to go for something a bit more realistic??

Amazing work on this one man, I liked what you did with the brushes and textures to really bring the grittiness of the setting to the fore, without them someone might get the impression of something more "cleanly futuristic" with the sleekness of the rifle and the stylized armor. But as it is this is great, I got a real good feel of what I'd be getting in to with this game. :D

Yeah, in the beginning her suit was all clean and polished, but then it created too much contrast with the postwar scenery of the background, so I corrected that :)
And thank you

Molto, molto carino.

This one seems to be influenced by Arch Enemy more than anything else from the list.
I'd say that the best musical background for this pic would be Filter - Hey Man Nice Shot.
