Let us not forget the man who had a vision and gave his life for it and the people he loved. May more men like him be born and lead us.

Wow not what I was expecting
I kept wondering why an Italian would care so much about an American tragedy
I guess this puts the world in perpective
And sorry for all the nut jobs us Americans have a little trouble seeing beyound us (And I'm going to get attacked for that)
Especially when it come to socialism

Also I haven't read the artical yet (and I'm going to)

Sadly having a truely open mind in this country (and Probably in all countries) is not really welcome

Yeah, being biased is so much easier and unbiased points of view -or even just points of view that don't conform to one's bias- so disturbing.

Wow, that's some messed-up history, I didn't know about any of that. This sounds kinda wrong to say, but thanks for sharing.

It doesn't :)
Allende was the proof that there can be great men in politics. And we shouldn't give up our idealism and just meekly choose the lesser evil.

The day this happened, even before I found out about it, I felt a horrific sense of despondence, which returns to me every year on this date.

Allende was indeed a heroic man, the like the modern age saw too few of.

Sorry, I have no concept of who Allende was. I am an American, I don't remember this date because of him. I remember it because of the deaths of thousands of non-combatant Americans who were murdered. You want modern heroes. The police and firefighters who charged into the buildings after the first plane crashed and died when the second one hit were heroes. They gave their lives in the hopes of saving the lives of others. Not because they gained the power of president over their nation, but because it was their lives devotion to save lives.
